6G Will be 8,000 Times Faster Than 5G with Speeds up to 1TB Per Second

To be honest, we are here to get 5G but China has taken a step towards 6G, the ministry of Science and Technology of China has launched preparatory work for the “Development of the Future network”.

They have said that the foundations for upcoming 6G have been laid and according to consumers, the upcoming 6G speed might reach 1 terabyte in only one second.

6G is 8,000 times faster than 5G; recently they have set up two different working groups to oversee research around 6G.

One of them is made up of executives from the sector ministries; this group is actually responsible for supporting the 2nd group that is made up of more than 35 experts from universities, research institutes, and technology companies.

In the interview, they said that at least 6G networks will offer speeds of 1TB, 1,000 gigabytes, 8,000 gigabits per second, this kind of speed will facilitate brand new types of uses and revolutionize technology.

According to Dr. Mahyar Shirvanimoghaddam a professor from the University of Sydney, the 6G networks era could “offer new perspectives in terms of brain-computer interfaces” and said that makes it possible to “use devices via our brain”.

He has given an example that to understand 6G network better, Broadcasting Netflix in the highest definition requires a maximum of 56 gigabits of data per hour but with this brand new technology, you will be able to download 142 hours of high-quality content every second.

He said that 6G network speeds will need significant improvement in “Materials science, computer architecture, chip design and energy use (…) we think about a sustainable way to supply all these devices without the risk of burning the earth”.

You may know that 5G is still in its infancy and work on 6G has already begun in china – Actually, it seems far too early.

One thing you should keep in mind that it will take about 10 years to develop a new generation network.

There are two countries China and Japan prepping for the 6G network, the first steps of 6G are in plans for 2030.
