Tech Companies Threaten to Leave Pakistan if Social Media Rules Stay

  • Pakistan Government Wants to Access Private Data of Users and Removal of Any Content They Want.

The tech companies like Facebook, Google and other giants warned that the rules would make it extremely difficult for AIC members to make their services available to Pakistani users and business.

In short, the Government of Pakistan wants to access all the private data / details of users they want to and can remove any content anytime they want.

The tech companies have already said that this is against the establishes principles of human rights.

Ali Moeen Nawazish says, “Bye Bye Digital Economy, Welcome Stone Age!”.

Adil Amir says, “Social media was major part of PTI’s growth as political party and now they and bajwas facing criticism, they want to stop or ban every voice that criticise them or their policies”.

The coalition said in a statement that it was “alarmed by the scope of Pakistan’s new law targeting Internet companies, as well as the government’s opaque process by which these rules were developed.”
