Cisco Over Half Million Routers Are Hacked: Cyber criminals have hacked and infected with virus at least 500,000 routers as well as the storage devices in what is believed to be a part of Russia attack to Ukraine.

The U.S Department of Homeland Security has claimed that they are investigating the malware which seems to have targeted devices from Netgear, MikroTik, Linksys, QNAP, and TP-Link. It is also an advice to the users to install the latest updates.

CISCO System Inc. have informed regarding this threat several months before that they had full confidence that behind this threat there is the hands of Russian campaign, according to Craig Williams CISCO Researcher.

He stated that this hacking code along with malware which was used earlier in cyber attack which U.S governments have credited to Moscow.

According to CISCO’s report, Ukraine has the largest infected routers which enable them to believe that they are the target of expected attack.

Ukraine’s state security service (SBU) claimed that commotion showed Russia was preparing the cyber attack on large scale before the Champions league soccer which will be held in Kiev on Saturday.

CISCO has found this campaign months before, where they first alerted the Authorities of Ukraine and United States before they can go with public with its findings.
